TRADITIONAL HEAT. BUILT AROUND YOUR SPACE.
Saunas
Every Fire & Stone sauna is designed around the property, the people and the way it will be used.
From the exterior form and timber selection to benches, glazing, ventilation and heater placement, each element is considered as part of the complete design.
MORE THAN A MOMENT OF CALM.
For generations, sauna has been a place to slow down, reset and reconnect. Beyond the calm and warmth, regular sauna bathing has been associated with benefits for cardiovascular health, recovery and overall wellbeing. A simple ritual that can become a meaningful part of everyday life.
A SAUNA IS A BUILDING SYSTEM.
A sauna has to manage heat, moisture, ventilation and weather at the same time.
Each Fire & Stone sauna is framed, insulated, sealed and lined as a complete structure. The exterior is detailed for Adelaide conditions. Inside, the room is designed around heat circulation, comfortable bench heights and the correct clearances around the heater.
Nothing is added without a reason. Every layer has a job.
THE RIGHT TIMBER. INSIDE AND OUT.
Timber inside a sauna has a different job from timber outside it. We select each material for its location, its temperature and the conditions it will face.
INTERIOR TIMBER
Interior linings and benches are selected for stability, comfort and low heat transfer. Options include thermo aspen, thermo ash, aspen and cedar, depending on the design and availability.
EXTERIOR CLADDING
Exterior cladding is selected for sun, rain and the architecture around it. Options include spotted gum, blackbutt, thermally modified timber and charred timber.
REAL STONES. REAL STEAM.
At the heart of every Fire & Stone sauna is a traditional stone heater, delivering the authentic sauna experience of deep heat and steam rising from hot stones.
We work with a selection of leading sauna heater brands, offering a wide range of models to suit each space. From room size and heating capacity to design and placement, every heater is carefully selected to balance performance, comfort and aesthetics.
HARVIA

READY WHEN YOU ARE.
Control the sauna directly from a wall-mounted panel. Set the temperature, choose the heating time and monitor the room as it warms.
Compatible Harvia and HUUM systems can also connect to WiFi for remote operation through the manufacturer’s mobile app. Available functions depend on the selected heater, controller and connected equipment.
AT THE WALL
Simple local control for temperature, heating time and connected functions.
FROM YOUR PHONE
Start compatible systems remotely, monitor the temperature and receive a notification when the sauna is ready.
SAFETY INCLUDED
Door sensors and the required safety controls are incorporated when remote operation is specified.
SEE IT BEFORE WE BUILD IT.
We develop your sauna in 3D before construction begins. The exterior form, interior layout, benches, glazing and heater position can be reviewed together.
Renderings show how the timber, proportions and finishes work within your property. Changes are resolved during design, before materials are ordered or construction starts.
GOOD TO KNOW.
-
A compact courtyard, an open garden or a position beside an existing deck. The right location depends on access, ground conditions, drainage and the relationship to your home.
We assess the proposed position and determine the base construction required. An existing deck or paved area needs to be checked before it can become part of the build.
-
Each sauna requires an electrical supply suited to the selected heater and control system. The requirements depend on heater output and the existing supply at your property.
The connection is planned as part of the project and completed by a licensed electrician.
-
Approval requirements depend on the property, the sauna design and its proposed location.
We identify what needs to be checked during planning, so any required approvals can be addressed before construction begins.
-
Timing depends on the scope of the work. Site preparation, the sauna design, material availability and any required approvals all affect the programme.
Once the design and scope are agreed, we set out the expected schedule with you. A standalone sauna and a complete outdoor build will have different timeframes.
-
Keep the interior clean and allow it to dry after each session. Use towels on the benches and clean the timber with products suitable for sauna use.
Exterior care depends on the timber and finish you choose. Heater stones and equipment should be checked and maintained according to the manufacturer’s instructions. At handover, we explain the care requirements for your sauna.
